Key assumptions?
A
- Psych should study the whole person as everyone is unique
- People have free will to make decisions
- Scientific method is too objective, and methods ignore subjective experiences

What is Maslow’s hierarchy of needs?
A
- Most basic needs at the bottom
- Most advanced needs at the top
- People are motivated to achieve progression through levels
- Each level must be fulfilled before a person can move up
- The more basic the need, the more powerfully it is experienced, and is harder to ignore

What is Self-actualisation?
A
Occurs when a person reaches their full potential and is the best version of themselves

What did Maslow find?
A
- People who attained self-actualisation shared characteristics
- They are creative, accepting other other, and have an accurate perception of the world
- Self-actualisation was achieved from peak experiences
- These are moments of extreme inspiration + ecstasy where they could leave all doubts, fears and inhibitions
