A
Children are developing their fine motor skills, practising holding a pen or pencil and starting to get to grips with basic spellings

Consolidation
A
Children write as they speak - usually in short, declarative sentences with simple conjunctions. Sentences are usually incomplete

Differentiation
A
Children are more able to differentiate between speech and writing. Different writing styles understood. Number of errors, writing guides are often used. Writing may reflect thoughts and feelings. Complex sentences with subordinate clause identified.

Integration
A
Children develop a personal style and can alter their writing depending on audience and purpose
