World Trade: Trade
The buying and selling of goodsss
World Trade: Import
Bringing (goods or services) in a country for abroad for sale
World Trade: Export
Sending (goods or services ) to another county for sale.
World Trade: Globalisation
Is the process by which the world is becoming increasingly interconnected as a result of massively increased trade and cultural exchange
Aid: Emerging or short-term aid
Needed after sudden disasters SUCH as the 2000 Mozambique floods or the 2004 Asian tsunami.
Aid: Conditional or tied aid
When one county donates money or resources to another (bilateral aid ) but with conditions attached. These conditions will often be in the HIC’s favour
Aid: Charitable aid
Funded by donations from the public through organisations such as OXFAM.
Aid: Long-term or development aid
It involves providing local communities with education and skills for suitable development, usually through organisations such as Practical Action.
Aid: Multilateral aid
Given through international organisations such as the World Bank rather than by one specific country
Fair Trade: Definition
Fair trade means that the producer receives a guaranteed and fair price for their product
Fair Trade: LIC’s
LIC’s unable to make money due to:
-Products being primary products therefore lower value
-Prices of raw materials fluctuate depending on supply & demand
-Tariffs (a sort of tax) on certain goods, making it too expensive to trade
-Trade blocks make it more difficult for an outside group to trade due to expensive
SDGs??
Sustainable Development Goals
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): UN???
United Nations is an international non-profit organisation formed in 1945 to increase corporation among its members countries. Forming the SDGs is to help development of LIC’s.
Increasing Development: Top-Down Development
Projects are set up and organised by governments usually without involving local people and communities
Increasing Development: Bottom-Up Development
Development projects that involve and include local communities rather than central government or other agencies
