Q

What is Final Protective Fire (FPF)

A

An immediate prearranged barrier of fire to stop enemy movement across defense lines or areas

Q

What is Final Protective Line (FPL)

A

Predetermined line along which grazing fire is placed to stop enemy assault.

Fixed in direction and elevation.

Grazing fire over various types of terrain out to 600m.

To prevent enemy from crawling under Grazing fire, search toward by lowering the muzzle.

22
Q

A

Firing table should be 4-6 inches down with the barrel as close to the ground as possible

23
Q

What is the highest unit level on a Ranger Card (DA Form 5517)

A

Company

24

A

Anything that can’t destroy your weapon

27
Q

What is the best way to Adjust Fire

A

The Beaten Zone, Followed by Tracer Rounds

28
Q

What is Plunging Fire

A

Occurs when Danger Space is within the Beaten Zone

At longer ranges when firing from high ground to low ground

When firing into abruptly rising ground or across uneven terrain.

29
Q

Principle Direction of Fire (PDF)

A

PDF is assigned to cover an area that has good fields of fire or has a likely avenue of approach.

only used is FPL is not assigned, then becomes part of unit’s FPF

30
Q

When moving from Primary fighting position to Secondary fighting position -

A

Leave the Tripod, take ammo and other means to fire machine gun

31
Q

What is Grazing Fire

A

Occurs when the center of the Cone of Fire rises less than 1m off the ground out to 600m
