Knot protocol.

A
  • Ensure the correct knot is selected for the task.
  • Place tension on the line to set and tighten the knot.
  • Knots must be inspected after tying.
  • Knots must have a tail no less than 150 mm after tightening—except when tying a stopper knot, which must have a minimum tail of 1 m.
  • Knots must be checked by another Rope Rescue Team member.
  • Knots must be removed / released from the line after use.

Define a good Knot

A
  • Is easy to tie and untie.
  • Is easily recognised when tied correctly.
  • Will not significantly reduce the strength of the rope line when tied correctly.
  • Will not slip excessively when tied correctly.
