Knee Ligaments Flashcards
1
Q
Lateral Collateral Ligament (LCL)
A
lateral epicondyle of femur -
fibular head
2
Q
Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL)
A
medial epicondyle of femur -
medial surface of tibia
3
Q
Coronary Ligment
A
edges of meniscus -
tibial plateau
both anteriorly and posteriorly
4
Q
Transverse Ligament
A
joins anterior edges of meniscus’s
- anchors them to tibia
5
Q
Unhappy triad
A
torn ACL, MCL, and medial meniscus
6
Q
Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL) - PAIN
A
- Posterior aspect of intercondylar eminence of TIBIA
- runs in Anterior direction to INternal aspect of knee joint
- attaches to lateral surface of medial femoral condyle
7
Q
Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) - APEX
A
- Anterior aspect of intercondylar eminence of TIBIA
- runs Posterior/superior direction
- runs to EXternal aspect of knee joint
- attaches to medial surface of lateral femoral condyle
- prevents ant. dislocation of tibia on the femur
