A

-almost always unilateral, usually affects the medial femoral condyle(weight bearing) -occasionally involve the tibial plateau -often associated with a meniscal tear

What is SIFK? What is the pathology?

A

-Spontaneous insufficiency fracture of the knee (SIFK) has similar appearances to osteochondritis dissecans of the knee -previously known as spontaneous osteonecrosis of the knee (SONK/SPONK) -older age group -not caused by osteonecrosis but instead by osteoporosis and insufficiency fractures
