knee Flashcards
Purpose and Cautions of:
ANTERIOR GLIDE OF TIBIA ON FEMUR
Purpose: pain management, increase knee EXTENSION
Cautions: be careful of ACL injury
Purpose and Cautions of:
AXIAL DISTRACTION OF TIBIA ON FEMUR
Purpose: pain management, increase overall ROM
Cautions: hand placement should be proximal to ankle
Purpose and Cautions of:
POSTERIOR GLIDE OF TIBIA ON FEMUR
Purpose: pain management, increase knee FLEXION
Cautions: PCL injury
Purpose and Cautions of:
LATERAL GLIDE OF TIBIA
Purpose: pain management, increase overall ROM
Cautions: don’t let femur rotate medially
Purpose and Cautions of:
MEDIAL GLIDE OF TIBIA
Purpose: pain management, increase overall ROM
Cautions: don’t allow femur to rotate medially
Purpose and Cautions of:
INFERIOR GLIDE OF PATELLOFEMORAL
Purpose: pain management, increase knee FLEXION
Cautions: don’t compress patella or force knee into extension
Purpose and Cautions of:
SUPERIOR GLIDE OF PATELLOFEMORAL
Purpose: pain management, increase knee EXTENSION
Cautions: don’t compress patella or force knee into hyperextension
Purpose and Cautions of:
MEDIAL GLIDE OF PATELLOFEMORAL
Purpose: pain management, increase MEDIAL tracking of knee
Cautions: CI if previous dislocation, discontinue if painful
Purpose and Cautions of:
Proximal Tibiofemoral
POSTERIOR GLIDE OF FIBULA
Purpose: pain management, increase posterior glide
Cautions: don’t compress peroneal nerve
Purpose and Cautions of:
Proximal Tibiofemoral
ANTERIOR GLIDE OF FIBULA
Purpose: pain management, increase anterior glide
Cautions: don’t compress peroneal nerve
Purpose and Cautions of:
Distal Tibiofibular
POSTERIOR GLIDE OF FIBULA
Purpose: pain management, increase dorsiflexion & plantarflexion
Cautions: don’t apply too much dorsiflexion
