Knee Flashcards
Origin of popliteus?
Popliteal groove, lateral condyle of femur
Insertion of popliteus?
Posterior surface of tibia, superior to soleal line
Action of popliteus?
“Unlocks” knee joint at beginning of knee flexion; medially rotates leg at knee joint
Insertion of rectus femoris?
Tibial tuberosity, via tendon of quadriceps femoris muscle
Origin of rectus femoris?
Anterior inferior iliac spine
Action of rectus femoris?
Extends knee; flexes hip
Origin of vastus medialis?
Medial part of the intertrochanteric line
Insertion of vastus medialis?
Tibial tuberosity via quadriceps tendon and medial border of patella
Action of vastus medialis?
Knee extension
Origin of vastus intermedius?
Anterior and lateral surfaces of body of femur
Insertion of vastus intermedius?
Tibial tuberosity, via tendon of quadriceps femoris
Action of vastus intermedius?
Knee extension
Origin of vastus lateralis?
Intertrochanteric line, greater trochanter
Insertion of vastus lateralis?
Tibial tuberosity, via quadriceps tendon; lateral border of patella
Action of vastus lateralis?
Knee extension
