knee Flashcards
ACL
Femoral attachment: posteromedial aspect of the lateral femoral condyle
Tibial insertion: anterior tibial eminence
divided into two bundles AM - tight in flexion, PL- tight in ( named by their insertion site on tibia)
extension
length 30 mm diameter 11 mm , composed mostly of type 1 collagen
blood supply : middle genicular A
contain mechanoreceptorors
ACL function
Resists anterior tibial translation in knee
flexion
PCL
Femoral attachment : anterolateral medial femoral condyle
Tibial insertion tibial sulcus below articular surface
divided into two bundles AL - tight in flexion, PM- tight in
extension
length 38 mm diameter 13 mm
blood supply : middle genicular A
PCL function
resist posterior tibial translation at all degrees of knee
flexion.
MCL
Origen: medial epicondyle of the femur
proximal insertion: o soft tissue overlying
anterior arm of semimembranosus
distal insertion: directly to bone 6-7 cm from the joint line
length 100-120mm
the insertion site of biceps femoris relative to LCL on fibula
posterior
The roll of AM bundle of ACL
restraining anterior tibial translation
The roll of PL bundle of ACL
responsible for rotational stability (pivot shift test)
