King Lear ( Act 3 Scene 4) Flashcards
An admission Lear hasn’t
Used his God given power to help humanity , a moment of insight for Lear , and a great step in his journey to humility
“O I have ta’en to little care of this , take physic pomp Expose thyself to feel what wretches feel “
His suffering is deserved he realised that and knows it is his pain is his own karma for the way he treated and raised his daughters, even during heightened madness
“Judicious punishment ! ‘‘Twas this flesh begot those pelican daughters “
Lear compares himself to Tom they have both lost everything , a statement that draws sympathy from the audience this helps drive Lears performed perception on the world
