Kinetic theory
A
Kinetic theory states that all particles in materials are
moving or vibrating.
The more energy you give a particle the more it moves or vibrates. This makes the material expand.
If a solid is given enough energy the particles can break
free of the rigid structure and become a liquid (Melting).
If a liquid is given enough energy the particles can break
free of the bonds all together and become a gas
(Evaporating).
