Kidneys Blood Pressure Flashcards
1
Q
What recognizes decreased blood pressure (sensor)
A
Baroreceptors around the body
2
Q
What do the Baroreceptors do
A
Release renin in the blood which activates angiotensinogen into angiotensin
3
Q
What role does angiontensin play?
A
constricts blood vessels, triggers thrist, and targets adrenal glands
4
Q
What do the adrenal glands do (integrator)
A
Release the effector aldosterone which increases Na+ reabsorption at the distal tubule and collecting duct. This allows more water to be reabsorbed, creating a higher blood volume and restoring blood pressure.
