Keywords Flashcards
Internal Validity
When a study is well-controlled and we can trust that other factors except the IV did not influence the DV
External Validity
The extent to which the results from a study can be generalized
Construct Validity
How well a study is operationalized
Data Triangulation
When data is gathered from several different sources which increases the reliability of the data.
Method triangulation
When more than one research method is used to test the same effect. If the same result is achieved with all different methods we say that the results are credible.
Researcher triangulation
When multiple researchers carry out the same study and interpret the data separately.
Causation
When a change in a variable is the only cause of a change in another variable
Correlation
When there is a relationship between 2 or more variables but they are not under the control of the researchers
Main problem with correlation
Correlation does not mean causation
