Define sacrament:
A religious ceremony; a visible sign of God’s grace
Healing Sacraments:
The two sacraments of healing are reconciliation and anointing the sick. Reconciliation allows for spiritual healing and absolution for people who have distanced themselves from God through sin.
Initiation Sacraments:
The three sacraments of initiation are baptism, the Eucharist, and Confirmation. These lay the basis of Chrisitan living.
Vocation Sacraments:
The two sacraments of vocation are marriage and holy orders. These are ways we are called by Gog to live a life of love and service.
Define Eucharist
The sacrament in which Catholics receive the bread and wine which has become the body and blood of Jesus. It is also the name given to the consecrated bread and wine which are received during this sacrament
Define repentance
Saying sorry to God for sins
Define Charismatic movement:
An active style of Christian worship which may include dancing and lively music
Define Homily:
A commentary that follows a reading of scripture explaining and teaching the meaning of God’s word
Define Efficacious prayer:
Prayer in the funeral rite that is powerful and effective that helps and encourages the deceased person
Define Eulogy:
Speech of praise and remembrance
for someone who has died
Define Requiem:
A Mass to remember someone who has died. Usually celebrated as part of the funeral
Define formulaic prayer:
Prayer which uses words or formulas and is a tradition of the Church.
Define extempore prayer:
Prayer which is informal using one’s own words without planning or preparation.
Define Blessed Sacrament:
The real presence of Jesus in the consecrated bread and wine, either to be consumed or adored
Define Mystery of the Rosary:
Prayers that concentrate on the joyful, sorrowful, and glorious moments in the life of Christ or Mary.
