Key Words Flashcards
Neutral stimulus
What is paired with the unconditioned stimulus to eventually give the same response
Unconditioned stimulus
A stimulus that gives a reflex response, it gives the unconditioned response naturally
Conditioned stimulus
The result of pairing a neutral stimulus with an unconditioned one
Conditioned response
The result of a conditioned stimulus
Unconditioned response
Reflex response which results from an unconditioned stimulus
Generalisation
When a stimulus similar to the conditioned one elicits the conditioned response
Vicarious reinforcement
Copying the behaviour of others because of seeing them be rewarded for it
Continuous reinforcement schedule
Getting a treat every time a behaviour is performed
Fixed ratio schedule
If behaviour is performed X number of times there will be one reinforcement on the Xth performance
Variable ratio schedule
Behaviour is reinforced based on the average number of correct behaviours
Fixed interval schedule
Reward will occur after a fixed amount of time
Variable interval schedule
Rewards will be distributed after a varying amount of time
Event sampling
During observation focusing on a predetermined event such as aggressive interactions
Time sampling
When observing making a note of behaviour or what is bing observed every so often, measured by time and over a specified period of time
