Located in the nucleus of the cell. All of our cells have the exact same DNA in their nucleus. Structure is double helix.

Chromosomes
A
Strands of DNA. 1 strand of DNA = 1 chromosome. Humans have 46 chromosomes inherited from both parents, 23 from each.

Genes
A
Lengths of DNA that contain information about a trait.

Alleles
A
Variations of a gene that code for a specific single variation of the trait.

Genotype
A
An individual’s genotype is made up of their alleles. Contained in DNA, you can’t see it.

A
An individual’s phenotype is made up of their traits. Phenotype is physical appearance, you can see it.
