Reliability
The extent to which if you repeated the research you’d get the same results
Representativeness
The extent to which a sample mirrors a researchers target population + reflect its characteristics
Informed consent
Telling them what exactly will be done within the project
Covert research
Undercover researcher, studies ppts who don’t know they’re being studied
Overt research
Researcher openly studies ppts, and they’re aware they’re being observed
Hawthorne effect
Ppts change their behaviour as they know they’re being studied
Verstehen
Weber- research that allows you to gain empathy, understanding + experiences
Positivism
An approach to the study of society that relies specifically on scientific evidence e.g. statistics
Interpretivism
The study of human society must go beyond empirical + supposedly objective evidence
