What’s natural theology?
The attempt to use rational, scientific evidence about the world to argue for the existence of God.
What’s revelation?
Divinely given information which is disclosed to humans.
What’s an a priori argument?
A type of argument which reaches a conclusion based solely on reason. For example, a tautology such as a bachelor is an unmarried man.
What’s an a posteriori argument?
A type of argument which bases a conclusion based on observation and evidence. Empirical evidence.
What’s an inductive argument?
An argument where the premises lead to a possible conclusion, not conclusive.
What’s a valid argument?
An argument where the premesis lead to a logical conclusion.
What’s a deductive argument?
An argument where the premises lead to the only possible conclusion.
Whats an invalid argument?
An argument that does not make logical sense.
What’s sound?
A valid argument that is also factually correct.
What’s proof?
There can only be one conclusion from the argument so it must be true.
What’s empirical?
Making use of evidence from the world.
