What is the Oesophagus?
A tube which takes food from your mouth to your stomach
What is the Stomach?
A large organ which stores food after it is swallowed and in which digestion occurs
What is the Small Intestine?
It is the part of your gut between the stomach and the large intestine
What is the Duodenum?
It is the first part of your small intestine joined to your stomach
What is the Ileum?
It is the rest of the small intestine after the duodenum
What is the Colon?
It is the part of your large intestine which is important for absorbing water from your food
What is the Rectum?
It is the part of the large intestine where faeces are stored
What is the Anus?
It is the end of the gut through which faeces leave the body
What is the Pancreas?
It is an organ which makes a juice full of enzymes
What do the Salivary Glands do?
They are organs which make saliva
What is Peristalsis?
It is the squeezing of food along the gut
What is the Large Intestine?
It is a wide tube connected to the end of your stomach
What are Faeces?
This is waste food which cannot be digested and which is passed out of your body
