A

A

Alexander III’s and Nicholas II’s personal tutor. Wrote Alexander’s ascension manifesto on ‘unshakable autocracy’. over procurator of the Hold Synod from 1880. Had influence over education. controlled all internal politics. Ha strong religious beliefs.

Director of Secret police in Ministry of Foreign Affairs 1881-4. Vice Minister of Internal Affairs 1884-9-. State Security for Finland 1899-1902. He was committed to upholding autocratic principles. Who was Nikolai Ignatiev?

A

Replaced Melikov as Internal Minister. Emancipated the remaining Serfs. Brought in a law making it easier for peasants to rent state land. He lost his job in 1892 as one of his ideas was rejected.

A
