Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
Adequate training of staff to ensure health and safety procedures are understood and adhered to. Adequate welfare provisions for staff at work.
COSHH 2002 (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations)
Assess the risks that arise from the use of hazardous substances. This will include any arrangements to deal with accidents, incidents or emergencies, such as those resulting from serious spillages.
RIDDOR 1995 (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations)
Requires employers, and other people in charge of work premises, to report and keep records of: work-related accidents which cause deaths. work-related accidents which cause certain serious injuries (reportable injuries) diagnosed cases of certain industrial diseases
Animal Welfare Act 2006
5 needs =
-need for a suitable environment.
-need for a suitable diet.
-need to be able to exhibit normal behaviour patterns
-need to be housed with, or apart, from other animals
-need to be protected from all unnecessary suffering
Equality Act 2010
Legally protects people from discrimination in the workplace and in wider society. It replaced previous anti-discrimination laws with a single Act, making the law easier to understand and strengthening protection in some situations.
