What is a personal budget?
The amount of money the local authority allocates for your care, based on your needs.
What is a direct payment?
A direct payment is when the local authority gives you the money, it gives the individual more control over their care. If the individual is unhappy, they can change service without the process of going through the local authority.
What is a managed account?
A managed account is when you tell the local authority how you would like to spend your money. This money is kept with the local authority and pays for the care that a person is receiving, this can be state funded or private services.
What is coproduction?
This is where the individuals receiving care are involved in designing and planning and service, deciding about the allocation of resources, delivering services.
What is choice and control?
Having a choice and control means that services are tailored to the needs of the individuals and are not one size fits all approach. People must be informed about their choices and empowered and supported to make decisions about their care.
What is a self- assessment of needs?
Something that someone does to create a personal healthcare plan.
What does changing roles of professionals mean?
This is when the individual knows what is best for them, not the professional.
