Describes a noun, either attributively (the green frog), or predicatively (the frog is green), or substantively (the good, the bad, the ugly).
Pronoun
Replaces a person, place, or thing
Conjunction
Links words, clauses, or sentences. (Frankie AND Johnny; I like him BUT not her.
Article
Article is a subset of adjectives, according to some grammarians; they determine if a noun is definite (the) or infinite (a, an) in the case of English. Latin has no articles.
Particle
A short word or phrase that modifies the sentence or tone in some way, In English, these are almost always interjections (Oh!)
Preposition
Relates a noun to the sentence in some way. We went TO school. The book is ON the shelf. The car was BESIDE the curb.
