Conglomerates are very commercial, and the principal purpose is to make money.

Entertainment – viewers read newspapers for enjoyment.
Personal identity – viewers can recognise a person (role models) that reflect similar values to themselves.
Integration and social interaction – the ability for media products to produce a topic of conversation between people.
Escapism - lets viewers escape their real lives and imagine themselves in those situations.
