What is a concertino?
A smaller solo group, made up of strings, wind instruments, or both
What is a Concerto Grosso?
The usage of a full string orchestra with a group of soloists (3-4 movements)
What is a Trio Sonata?
A sonata written for 3 parts commonly 2 violins and a basso continuo (So actually, 4!) (3-5 Movements)
What is a suite?
Full Baroque Orchestra, all movements in the same key (4-7 Movements)
What is the Basso Continuo known as?
The “Rhythm Section” of the Baroque Orchestra
What is the Basso Continuo?
The lower part of the trio sonata, with two players of harpsichord/organ and cello/bass
What are Terraced Dynamics?
No Decrescendos/Crescendos, created utilizing two groups
What is augmentation?
Rhythmic lengthening or shortening of a pattern/melody
What is polyphony?
A type of texture containing 2 or more lines of independent melody
What is homophony?
All parts have the same rhythm
