What doses do we have?
30mg, 60mg
What is it used for?
Short term pain relief
How does it work?
Inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis to produce analgesia
What are contraindications?
history of peptic ulcers, alcohol intolerance, hypersensitivity
What are the side effects?
CVA, drowsiness, GI bleeding, prolonged bleeding, anaphylaxis, dizziness, headache
What is the route and dosage?
In the clinic, IM, usually single dose at 60mg
What us the classification?
NSAID
What is the onset, peak, and duration?
10min, 1-2 hours, 6+hrs
What to assess before and after?
Assess rash, assess pain
What to evaluate and tell patient?
May cause, drowsiness or dizziness, avoid use of NSAIDs, acetaminophen, watch for rash, black stools, evaluate pain
