JVD 2018 #1 - Cementation of Full Coverage Metal Crowns in Dogs Flashcards
What step is being shown here?
Application of oxygen barrier gel to allow anaerobic setting of this particular cement.
Which step is being performed here?
A) Sandblasting the interior of the crown to improve adhesion
B) Application of the metal primer before cementation
C) Use of articulating powder and the stone die to check fit
D) Application of the dissolving agent to remove contaminants before final cementation.
C) Use of articulating powder and the stone die to check fit
Why should the tooth be poilshed with pumice instead of regular prophy paste?
Regular paste contains fluoride, glycerin and waxes/oils. Fluoride interferes w bonding and reduces effectiveness of acid etch; also contains waxes/oils which prevent bonding
What is the most commonly accepted factor (under the control of the clinician) responsible for success/failure of crown restoration?
Tooth preparation with proper resistance and retention form (height, diameter, CA)
Why are resin based cements commonly recommended in vet med?
Sometimes have little control over the geometric form of the tooth prep, and they are the strongest, most durable, least soluble cements available.
