When they have been threatened or retaliated against as a result of the employee making a complaint.
What is the very first step in whistleblowing?
Follow internal company reporting procedures (make a complaint internally).
What qualifies for whistleblowing…
Activity or policies that violate state or federal law or rule.
-The company must be aware that it does.
(billing fraud, failure to maintain safety equipment, insufficient staffing)
Act that encourages people to report medical and billing agency fraud.
