This is paired with the jungle-like characteristics of the current state of mind which Aubrey is in, as a result of the concoction of a whirlwind of public success partnered with private, emotional turmoil. These two aspects are used as the foundation of the short film, as Aubrey compares and contrasts his life in Lawrence Heights with his current, deranged lifestyle as a musician.

Self Discovery #3 - Use Of Colour + Light
The combination of light and colour symbolises the dark mental predicament in which Aubrey is in, and the constant darkness presents a distinctive, negative aura surrounding him. The use of dull, gloomy colours allows the viewer to understand the dark times which Aubrey is experiencing, and how the world has become dark to his mind.
Spiritual Discovery #1 - Use Of Colour + Light
The continual shift in colour and lighting as the short film progresses presents a parallel with the current mental state of Aubrey. In the earlier scenes of the movie, the dark colour palette presents the viewers with the negative mental state of Aubrey. This is shifted as the film progresses, as with each scene, brighter colours slowly become more evident, with their only restriction being the level of saturation. The ongoing restoration of colour and lighting represents the recognition of the truth in Aubrey’s life, and his acceptance of the reality he must live with.

After a entering a room which highlights the confusion and negativity surrounding Aubrey, the close-up shot of Aubrey’s fists clenching then releasing slowly symbolise his release of the negativity in his life, further accentuating by the near instant shift in light and colour.

Use of lyrics to further reflect upon the inner emotions of Aubrey after reflecting on his life and what he has come to be accentuate the hope within him that he will be guided and cared for. He believes that his connection to his faith will assist him in his times of weakness, and that the things in life he has no control over, if he approaches them the way he should, won’t change anything.
