Tragedy
A play that deals with unfortunate events and usually features the death of the main character.
Tragic Hero
The main character- who has a tragic flaw or defect in their personality. This flaw usually leads to their downfall and death.
Aside
An aside is a remark or brief speech in which a character reveals something to the audience that they do not wish the other characters on stage to hear.
Irony
Irony is when something happens that turns out to be the opposite of what is expected will happen.
Monalogue
A monalogue is a speech in which a character expresses their thoughts or emotions.
Rhetorical Question
A rhetorical question is a question that doesn’t require an answer.
Soliloquy
A soliloquy is a speech spoken by a character alone on stage and not directed at anyone in particular.
