Snow = white = purity and innocence
Connotes surprise and innocence as lacks experience. Insecurity shown.
It is too rash, too unadvis’d, too sudden
This bud of love, by summer’s ripening breath/ May prove a beauteous flower, when next we meet
Shows sensibility through her misgivings.
Wants the relationship to go at a natural pace which is right as Friar Lawrence’s advice shows that going too fast which Romeo seems to want to do is not the right way to begin a relationship
I will not marry yet
Not proud you have, but thankful you have
Gentle defiance against her parents exhibiting confidence and growth within herself as well as strength
Strength may have been gotten from Romeo as she says “love give me strength” which shows maturity as she has not used childish methods but instead is relying on herself and her love
I shall never be satisfied/With Romeo - dead - is my poor heart
Complies with parents without betraying her husband as a result of her strong love.
1) She will not be happy until she holds Romeo dead and her heart is troubled until then because of Tybalt’s death and he needs to be avenged
2) Her heart is troubled because she is not with Romeo so her heart is dead
Shows maturity and intelligence as she knows exactly how to say what she means whilst letting her mother hear what she wants to hear
Thou and my bosom shall henceforth be twain
Very big step to take - separating herself from the motherly figure which has been present all of her life, exhibiting true maturity.
A lot of courage -> strengthens
Nurse!-what should she do here?
Courage and strength helps as she resits the childish impulse of going to her motherly figure for help
