Judiciary Act 1789
- set up circuit courts –> 1st round of appeal- district courts –> trial courts
What did the 11th amendment do?
no federal jurisdiction between states
What does the supreme court deal with?
constitutional issues
What is affirmative action?
under representative groups are given preferable treatment
establishment clause
there will be no religious test for any job which is being paid for by the taxpayers
when 9/13 states sign the constitution it will go into effect
new york and virginia were the main ones against it / wanting a bill of rights

freedom of religion, speech, press, and assembly
second amendment
the right to beat arms

the right to not bear troops (influenced by quartering act)

no unreasonable search and seizure
fifth amendment
- due process of law
- no double jeopardy
- can not be forced to testify against yourself
- protects private property (sometimes)
sixth amendment
right to a speedy and public trial to a jury of your peers
seventh amendment
trial by jury
