BIBLE
The Christian holy book. Christians believe it contains the word of God.
ADVENT
The 4 Sunday’s leading up to Christmas. This is time set apart by Christians to prepare for the coming of Jesus.
REVELATION
The ways in which God makes himself known to human beings. For example, through the bible, and in the person of Jesus Christ.
CONSCIENCE
A persons’ sense of right and wrong. The conscience is their inner guidance from God.
EPIPHANY
The festival that ends Christmas - it remembers the visit of the magi to Jesus.
PURGATORY
A state of waiting for heaven. As heaven is a place where only the pure are permitted, no person who dies in a state of sin can enter heaven. So people pray for those who have died asking that God will have mercy on them and their sins may be forgiven.
JUDGEMENT
The belief that everyone will be judged by God for doing right and wrong.
LENT
This season is 40 days before Easter. Catholics will fast, pray and help charity.
LITURGIC YEAR
The church’s year of worship. It includes Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Easter, Ascension and Pentacost.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS
14 framed pictures or carvings that are placed around the church and show the events of Jesus’ crucifixion.
PILGRIMAGE
A journey to a place of religious importance. For example, Catholics travel to Lourdes in the hope of receiving healing.
CONFESSIONALS
A place where catholic’s can confess their sins to the priest during the sacrament of Reconciliation.
