Revelation
G-d has disclosed himself to humankind.
- key revelation to Moses on Sinai, where he received the law
Sin
disrupts right relationships between people / between a person and G-d
- G-d decrees what is sinful; only He can forgive
Repentance
atonement for sin
Free Will
human ability to make decisions and distinguish right from wrong
- responsibility to follow Mitzvot (divine commandments)
Divine and human justice
G-d is source of moral law and executes judgement when people break it
- human law and behaviour should be just and merciful like G-d
Sanctity of Life
human life considered sacred + G-d given
- only G-d gives life, only He can take it away
- preservation of life is a moral imperative

Human rights
moral principles set out in the commandments (Mitzvot) are rules about justice, equality before the law, loving kindness, social welfare, and ideals of peace and political freedom.
Mishpat - set of rules for society to preserve own interests w/o infringing the rights and freedoms of others
Tzedakah - difference between possession and ownership
* charity - one shares part of what one has with others in need
* no one should be w/o basic needs

World view
- one life
- death is the end of the physical life; soul maintained in spiritual form
- desired result for soul to be in heaven with G-d
- adherents attempt to make way to heaven through behaviour
- compassion and forgiveness allows for forgiveness
