Stage 1: Focus
- Defines the task to be completed
- Focuses the learners attention on the task
- Students plan, prepare, study and research to set goals

Stage 2: Action
- Students are placed in an environment in which they learn to use new skills and apply knowledge
- It is sometimes called the hurricane stage as it is usually challenging and stressful
- They are compelled to take responsibility rather than relying on the teacher

- Responsibility is centred around the students motivation to learn
