Head Waiter/Waiteress
Responsible for greeting the customers and seating them
In charge of organising and training staff

Waiting Staff
Set tables, take orders and serve customers their food
Top up drinks, prepare bill and clear tables
Full-Time Staff
Permanent job
Have to sign a contract
Work fixed number of hours each week
Part-Time Staff
Work fewer hours a week than full-time staff
Have a permanent job and sign a contract
Often work at busy times e.g. Weekends or evenings
Casual Staff
Employed for specific functions or at busy periods of the year
Can be available at short notice
Don’t work fixed hours
Only paideia for hours they work
Training
Can prepare food or don’t if house
Some take training courses at college to learn skills before hand
Restaurant Manager
In charge of the area where the customers sit ‘front of house’
Responsible for the standard of the service, booking, hiring new staff
Often work with the head chef
