Joints of Upper limb Flashcards
Name all the joints of upper limb
Sternoclavicular (SC)
Acromioclavicular ( AC)
Glenohumeral (GH)
Sternoclavicular classfication
Sadle(functions as ball & socket)
Btwn sternal end of the clavicle and the manubrium of the sternum and 1st cartilage
SC joint is divided into what?
Articular disc & Joint Capsule
Articular disc
Attaches to anterior / posterior sc ligament & interclavicular ligament
Joint Capsule
Surrounds SC joint
Fibrous layer
Anterior & posterior ligaments
Reinforce Joint capsule anteriorly and posteriorly
Interclavicular Ligament
Strengthen capsule superiorly
Extends from the sternal end of one clavicle to the sternal end of the other clavicle ( also attached superior border of manubrium)
Costoclavicular Ligament
Anchors Surface of sternal ends of clavicle to 1st rib & costal cartilage
*limits elevation of the pectoral girdle
AC Joint Classificaton
Classification: Plane synovial
Covered by fibrocartilage separated by an incomplete wedge-shaped articular disc
Superior AC Ligament
Strengthen come from coracoclavicular ligament
Coracoclavicular Ligament
Conoid
Trapezoid
