Arm Muscles Flashcards
Biceps Brachii
long head & short head
Forarm in pronation
biceps is primary powerful in supination
Biceps Brachi Proximal Attachment
Short Head: tip of coracoid process of scapula
Long Head: supraglenoid tubercle of scapula
Biceps Brachii Distal Attachment
Tuberosity of raidus and fascia of forearm via bicipital aponeurosis
Biceps Brachii & Brachialis Innervation
Musculocutaneous nerve ( C5, C6)
Biceps brachii actions
- Supinates forearrm, when supinated flexes elbow joint
flexes shoulder joint; - Short head resists dislocation of shoulder
Brachialis Proximal attachment
Distal half of anterior surface of the humerus
Brachialis Distal attatchment
coronoid provesses and tuberoisty of ulna
Braichialis Actions
Flexes elbow joint in all positions
Triceps Brachii Heads
Long Head
Lateral Head
Medial Head
Triceps Proximal Attachment
Long head: Infraglenoid tubercle of scapula
Lateral head: post surface of humerus, superior to radial groove
Medial: ^ same but inferior to radial groove
Triceps Brachii distal attachtment
Proximal end of olecranon of ulna & fascia of forearem
Triceps brachii actions
Chief Extensors of elbow joint
the long head extends shoulder joint and resists dislocation of humerus
***(esp important during abduction)
Triceps Brachii & Aconeous Innervation
Radial Nerve
Triceps ( C6,7, 8 )
Aconeous (C8, T1)
Aconeous Proximal attachment
Lateral epicondyle of humerus
