Joints Of The Lower Limb Flashcards
What are the ligaments of the SACRO-ILIAC joints ?
Iliolumbar ligaments
Anterior and posterior ligaments
Sacrotuberous ligaments sacrospinous ligament
What is the function of the iliolumbar ligament ?
The iliolumbar ligaments connects the ilium to the 5th lumbar vertebra
What is the function of the sacrotuberous ligament?
It connects the post iliac spines, sacrum and coccyz to ischial tuberosity
What is the function of the sacrospinous ligament ?
It connects the spine to the lateral borbed of the sacrum and coccyx. It prevents the displacement from the sacrum
What is the function of the interosseous ligaments ?
It fills the irregular space above and behind the joint . It is covered by thee sacroiliac ligament .
What is the limitations of movement of the hip ?
Abduction, adduction, medial rotation & hyperextension and lateral rotation .
How is the abduction limited ?
The abduction is limited by the pubofemoral ligament and medial portion of the iliofemoral.
How is the adduction limited ?
The adduction is limited by the lateral portion of the iliofemoral and the ligament of the head of the femur .
How is the medial rotation & hyperextention limited ?
It is limited by the ischiofemoral .
Why is the lateral rotation is limited ?
It is limited by the lateral portion of the iliofemoral
What are the parts of the extrinsic ligaments ?
1- patellar ligament
2- medial & lateral patellar retinacula
3- tibial ( medial ) collateral ligament
4- fibular (lateral) collateral ligament
5- oblique popliteal ligament
6- arcuate popliteal ligament
What are the intrinsic ligaments ?
1- anterior cruciate ligament
2- posterior cruciate ligament
What are the intrinsic ligaments ?
1- anterior cruciate ligament
2- posterior cruciate ligament
3- transverse genicular ligament
4- anterior and posterior meniscofemoral ligament
What is the function of the anterior cruciate ?
The ligament prevent post displacement of the femur while tightening the knee joint during flextion
What is the function of post cruciate ligament ?
It prevent anterior displacement of the femur while tightening the knee joint during flexion
What are the parts of the bursae ?
1- suprapatellar bursa
2- subcutaneous bursa
3- subcutaneous infrapatellar bursa
4- deep infrapatellar bursa
What is the type of joint in the ankle ?
It is a hinge ( trochlear ) type
Where is the talocrural joint ?
It is between the body of the talus and the arch formed by the distal end of the tibial
Where is the talocrural joint ?
It is between the body of the talus and the arch formed by the distal end of the tibial
What are the parts of the medial collateral ( deltoid ) ligament ?
1- posterior and anterior tibiotalar
2- tibiocalcanean
3- tibionavicular
What are the parts of the lateral collateral ligament ?
1- anterior and posterior talofibular
2- calcaneofibular
What is the subtalar joint ?
It is formed between the talus and calcaneus, it is a synovial joints the permits inversion and eversion
What is the other names of the subtalar joint ?
1- Tarsal joint
2- Talocalcaneal joint
Where is the tarsometatarsal joints ?
These joints take place between the cuboid and three cuneiforms ( distal tarsal ) and the proximal bases of the metatarsal bones.
