1- INTRO TO ANATOMY Flashcards
How can gross anatomy be studied ?
Gross anatomy can be studied with a regional and/or systematic approach
What dose regional anatomy study ?
Regional anatomy studies structures in an area of the body e.g : head, neck and abdomen.
How is systemic anatomy organized ?
Systemic anatomy is organized by the systems e.g musculoskeletal, nervous, cardiovascular, endocrine, urinary and reproductive .
What is the anatomical terminology ?
The anatomical terminology is the language of medicine that consist of at least 4500 words describing relation comparison and the movement.
Where is the word anatomy derived from and what dose it mean ?
The word anatomy is derived from the greek word temnein which means to cut.
What dose anatomy include ?
Anatomy includes gross or microscopic anatomy.
What are two primary techniques used to learn anatomy ?
Observation and visualization are the primary techniques used to learn anatomy.
What is the anatomical position ?
The anatomical position is the erect position of the body with the face directed forward, arms to the side, palms of the hand facing forward, toes and heels side by side .
How is the parts of the body are described ?
The parts of the body are described in relation to certain imaginary planes.
What is the midsagittal plane ?
It is the vertical plane passing through the body, dividing it into equal right and left half.
What are the paramedian planes ?
The paramedian planes are situated to the bilateral sides of the median plane
What is the horizontal or transverse plane ?
The horizontal / transverse plane is an imaginary plane at the right angle to the median plane dividing the body into upper and lower parts.
What are the four elements of movement ?
Bones, joints, muscles, nerves
What are the three movements around the axes :
Transverse (X), longitudinal (Y), sagittal axis (Z)
What is an axis :
An axis is an imaginary line that is perpendicular to one of 3 imaginary planes
