The word anatomy is derived from the greek word temnein which means to cut.

Observation and visualization are the primary techniques used to learn anatomy.
What is the anatomical position ?
The anatomical position is the erect position of the body with the face directed forward, arms to the side, palms of the hand facing forward, toes and heels side by side .

It is the vertical plane passing through the body, dividing it into equal right and left half.
