Joints of Shoulder Girlde + Glenohumeral Flashcards
What type of joint are the sternoclavicular joints?
Saddle type joints that functions like a ball & socket
What ligaments hold the sternoclavicular joints?
Anterior & posterior sternoclavicular ligaments - reinforce anteriorly and posteriorly
Interclavicular ligament - reinforce superiorly
Costoclavicular ligament - limits elevation of clavicle
What type of joints are the acromioclavicular joints?
Plane/Gliding (Synovial)
What ligaments hold the acromioclavicular joints?
Acromioclavicular ligaments - reinforces joint superiorly (limiting the occurence of the “step deformity”)
Coracoclavicular ligaments - extrinsic ligaments, and divided:
a) Conoid ligament - prevents excess superior movement
b) Trapezoid ligament - prevent excess lateral movement + stability of acromioclavicular joint
What consists of the “scapulothoracic joint”? More specifically, the bony- and myostructures.
Bony-structures - scapula (subscapular fossa) + thorax
Myostructures - subscapularis + serratus anterior
