Joint Muscles And Reflexes Flashcards
What are the three main types of joints
Fiberous joints
Cartilaginous joints
Synovial joints-
Describe synovial joints
Comman features cartilage
Articular cartilage- coats the two bones that meets each other provides smooth surface to reduce friction and gets thinner with age
Joint capsule-joint is wrapped in a sleeeve of fibrous tissues that hold the bones together
Synovial membrane- delicate epithelial layer line the capsule and covers all non-weight bearing surface inside the joints
Synovial fluid- thick sticky fluids that fills the cavity. Contains phagocytes (immune cells) to keeps joints healthy, lubricates the joints, aids movement , maintains stability prevents fiction.
