Can you describe a time when you resolved a conflict between a student and teacher?
I have resolved many conflicts between different teachers at my current job where we had several professors who misunderstood our online textbook program. But through several meetings and efficient communication. we were able to form a plan that was most efficient and beneficial for students.
What made you apply to our school in particular?
I applied to your school because of its reputation for fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment. I am also from Beaver County and feel I can contribute to the well-being and success of your students based on similar experiences.
What made you want to become a school counselor?
During my senior year of high school, I did Work Based Learning with my school counselor Mrs. Evans at Beaver High School. During my experience, I was able to learn and grow to love the experiences of a school counselor.
What skills do you think are important for a school counselor?
Essential skills for a school counselor encompass empathy, active listening, effective communication, problem-solving, interpersonal adeptness, cultural understanding, organizational proficiency, collaborative spirit, resilience, and ethical integrity.
Can you describe your fundamental goals as a school counselor?
My fundamental goals as a school counselor revolve around supporting students’ academic success, fostering their social and emotional development, and empowering them to reach their full potential. I strive to create a safe and inclusive environment where students feel heard, and supported in navigating challenges.

Why do you think students should have access to a school counselor?
counselors offer emotional support, help with academics, teach social skills, handle crises, and connect students with resources they need. They are essential for students’ success and well-being in school and beyond.

What are some common strategies that you use to connect with students?
Active Listening, make a plan of attack, validate emotions, be flexible
How would you handle intervention if a student told you they were experiencing abuse in their home?
I would bring this up with the principle as well as with the correct legal services.
