Indications
Chronic spermatorrhea, impotence, fatigue and weakness, sore and weak limbs, lower back pain, tinnitus, a pale tongue with a white coating, and a thin, frail pulse

Chief
shā yuàn zĭ: tonifies Kidneys and benefits the essence; stops the leakage of semen by stabilizing the gate of essence
Deputies
lián zĭ, qiàn shí, lián xū: aquatic plants, sweet, astringent, moist; stabilizing gate of essence and stopping leakage of semen
qiàn shí, lián xū: tonify postnatal constitution via the Spleen (strong earth helps to control water)
lián zĭ, lián xū: nourish Heart to calm the spirit (guards against excessive stirring of ministerial fire at the gate of vitality)
Assistants
duàn lóng gŭ, duàn mŭ lì: powerful restraining; bind the semen and prevent it from leaking; heavy - calm the Liver and subdue the yang, assisting in prevention of spermatorrhea from yet another direction
Cautions and Contraindications
Contraindicated in cases of damp-heat in the lower burner, should be modified if used for spermatorrhea at night due to blazing fire from deficiency.
Fever from externally-contracted pathogen, use should be discontinued to avoid retention of pathogen.
Avoid acrid, spicy, hot foods, sexual intercourse.
Diagnostic Pattern
Spontaneous emissions (spermatorrhea which occurs without dreams) caused by Kidney deficiency and instability of the gate of essence.
