Actions
Restrains the essence, suppresses rebellion, and regulates and harmonizes the yin and yang
Indications
Spermatorrhea (in men) or dreaming of sexual intercourse (in women), lower abdominal contraction and pain, a cold sensation at the tip of the penis, occasionally watery diarrhea, dizziness, palpitations, insomnia and dream-disturbed sleep, loss of hair.
Pulse: hollow, slightly tight

Chiefs
guì zhī: warms the yang (helps it to attend to the yin)
bái sháo: restrains the yin (enables it to contain and nourish the yang)
Regulate the Wei and Ying qi –> restore proper communication between the yin and yang above and below.
Deputies
lóng gŭ: weighs down/anchors the yang so that it reunites with the yin
mŭ lì: helping the yin restrain the yang
Weigh down the actions of the chiefs so they work on deeper level (Wei + Ying, Yin + Yang)
Assistants
shēng jiāng, dà zăo: reinforce the regulating and nourishing actions of the chiefs
Envoy
gān căo: harmonizes the actions of the other ingredients

Not indicated when pulse is deep and thin but full, or superficial but forceful.
