Introduction
Jerusalem is a state of the nation play, written by Jez Butterworth, first performed in 2009,a time of global economic recession with social commentary on social class,high rural unemployment and social conformity, inspired by WIlliam Blake’s poem which comments on the social distressed caused by the industrial revolution, generally critiquing capitalist society.
