Holding speeds Australia
Up to and including FL140 = 230 kt
Above FL140 up to FL200 = 240 kt
Above FL200 = 265 kt
Lesser of 280 kt/M.8 in turbulence above the highest MSA in CTA with ATC approval
Cat C speeds and circling area

SPEEDS FOR INITIAL AND INTERMEDIATE APPROACH v = 160 - 240 kt
Final Approach Speeds = 115 - 160 kt
Max speed for circling = 180 kt
Max speed for MAP = 240 kt
Circling area 4.2nm
Cat D speeds and circling area
Vat = 141 - 165 kt
SPEEDS FOR INITIAL AND INTERMEDIATE APPROACH = 185 - 250 kt
Final Approach Speeds = 130 - 185 kt
Max speed for circling = 205 kt
Max speed for MAP = 265 kt
Circling area 5.28nm
When can you descend below the MDA on a circling approach?
- Maintain aircraft in circling area
- Maintain visibility not less than the charted approach
- Maintain visual contact with the landing runway environment
- When on DW, base or final leg and a continuous normal descent can be flown.
- In daylight only maintain visual contact with obstacles on the flight path and keep the required height above them for aircraft category. Until aligned with the runway.
Class D speed limits
200 KIAS at or below 2500 ft AAL within 4 NM of the primary Class D airport
