  • can be used: for Contractor design of discrete parts of the works (Contractors Design Portion

  • same as SBC/Q except degree of project complexity is not enough to require bill of quantities

Intermediate Building Contract (IC) - not suitable as D&B contract

Name where this type is appropriate and can be used

A
  • appropriate for simple building works with basic trades (no specialist design)
  • works designed by or on behalf of employer detailed contract provisions. Employer to provide Contractor with drawings and bill of quantities and spec / schedule of works
  • as previous - more detailed than Minor Works, less detailed than SBC
  • can be used by both private and Local Authority employers

Minor Works (MW)

Name where this type is appropriate and can be used

Note: both IC and MW are available with Contractor’s Design - allow CDP for part of works

neither are suitable for D&B.

  • appropriate for simple work-designed by or on behalf of employer
  • where employer is to produce drawings / spec / work schedules to define quantity and quality of works
  • Architect / Contract Administer to administer conditions
