Q

Why couldnโ€™t the league help China

A
  • None of the European powers wanted to reduce trade with the Far East especially since USA couldโ€™ve taken over lost business
  • The alternative of military sanctions was even less appealing as this would have involved European-powers sending naval task force to the other side of the world with very certain prospects of success
  • both Britain and France losses colonies in the Far East including Hong Kong and Singapore and feared sanctions might provoke a Japanese attack
  • they took long to produce Lytton report
  • lack of will from the league
